A girlfriend asked me recently how I go about taking photos. She said she tries taking photos but hers never quite turn out the way she thinks it will. I wasn't sure how to answer her. I never took a formal photography class, except for one as an undergrad. I've been lucky to have had positions where I was able to work with photographers or look at different images. The answer I came up with was the most honest one I could compose. I told her that what really attracts me is different colors. I look for colors that catch my eye. After colors, I look at shapes. The rest, I just hope I captured something that other people would find intriguing, thought-provoking, inspiring. This shot here was taken after a few days of rain in Southern California. I didn't see any rainbows -- until I saw a rainbow of sorts in the puddle of water. I try to see rainbows everywhere I go.
